Into the groove sounds so cassetty on this that it sounds similar to the version at the end of the movie and I love it. -

Reviewing every record in my collection
Well, now what a great release this is. Content wise it's like a buffed up Angel single, Having Into the Groove and the Extended remix of Angel on it (Which I consider to be hideous, but that's another thing) the other two tracks are the Extended remix of Material Girl which I consider to be great and the full 6 minute version of Holiday. It also uses one of my favorite photoshoots of Madonna and sounds really good, Overall a Great release. -
Edited one year agoDisappointed in that both sides have a half-second "rip" sound occurring every 5-10 seconds. Anyone else?

Edited 7 years agoInitially, I thought it was a great idea to release what had been an Argentina only issue back in 1985. Once I saw pictures, it was apparent that the design was not faithful to the original, which had a round sticker-like print on the front cover stating in Spanish "featuring Into The Groove from the Desperately Seeking Susan soundtrack" as well as the WEA logo on the upper right. Same goes for the back cover which has translations of the Spanish titles of the tracks in parenthesis and Side 1-2 instead of Lado 1-2. Last year's RSD release "Like A Virgin & Other Big Hits" is much more faithful to its Japan original counterpart. The only difference other than the catalog number is the back of its OBI strip. Then again, the original release had the track titles in English, I suppose had they been in Japanese, it is likely the reissue would have them translated as well. The colors of the photos on both sides of the cover seem washed out, especially the back cover photo. You can see the front and back cover photos on another release from the era with much nicer print quality: https://discogs.sitiodesbloquea.com/Madonna-Borderline/release/1470067 . The cardboard sleeve seems a bit thin and flimsy as well. As for inner contents, the original release had nothing but the record itself so in that respect I don't have a problem with the absence of say, an inner sleeve. I can't comment on sound quality as I have not opened mine. All in all, it's a fun item if you're into classic Madonna, but certainly not a must own in itself.

Edited 7 years agoThis is a horribly disappointing release, and only serves as a collector's item for the completionist Madonna fan. Its sole redeeming quality is that it has the original version of "Into the Groove". The remix of "Angel" sounds as though someone recorded it with a microphone while at a packed club (you can ever hear people in the background). Side B has the tracks listed in Spanish, but they're in English as usual. "Material Girl" is the same remix found on the remastered CD for Like a Virgin, while "Holiday" is the original album version. Finally, the sound quality of this reissue is just terrible.

Unbelievably dissappointed. This retailed for A$40 in Australia.
It's the second consecutive year that they re-issue something from the LIKE A VIRGIN era, including mixes of the same songs. With so much unreleased and rare Madonna material, why keep focusing on more of same? Also, even compared to last year's reissue of the Japanese record (which included a reproduction of the original OBI and record sleeve), this one is lackluster. There is NOTHING to see, no inner sleeve, nothing.
