Yes, this is absolutely stunning release. The music is seminal, the cover art is the cherry on the top.
Highly Recommend -
Rating '5' is not enough.. a 10/10 is this masterpiece which transported the Funk into the 80s after 'disco' shot it down somewhat
This magnicifant album influenced EPMD ,Snoop and Dre, Heavy D.,Teddy Riley and many more Producers tin today. The follow-ups where also great but this is a cuttingpoint break -
Real masterpiece from a popular, yet sometimes underrated band. Always ontop of good music. Best Zapp release in the whole line-up. Zapp III really pales in comparison to this album, wish they stuck to the more traditional P-Funk style.

Edited 19 years agoZapp deserve recognition as one of the great pioneers in bringing electronic production into funk music, not to mention for simply being one of the funkiest acts around.
This, their first album under the name (after a few obscure outings as the Human Body), brought together their jamming experience and undoubted talents with some production techniques learned and adapted from Bootsy Collins (who had attempted to sign them)
Every track is richly layered and full of funk, but the masterpiece of course is "More Bounce To The Ounce", a seemingly never-ending sinous groove with those awesome vocodered intonations. The groove here has been purloined dozens of times, by EPMD, the Jedi Knights (aka Global Communication), and I believe Snoop Dogg, among others.
