British songwriter.
Tollerton rose to fame when she and her friend Eily Beadell entered a BBC songwriting contest in 1945 and won with the song "Cruising Down The River". The song would go on to be recorded by numerous artists in Europe and the US. The song was made popular in the UK in 1946 by Lou Preager and his Orchestra, with vocals by Paul Rich. It charted eight times (all in 1949) in the U.S. including twice at #1: by Blue Barron and His Orchestra and by Russ Morgan.
