He was born August 8, 1942 in Liverpool, He sang the role as Simon Zealotes on the 1970 double album Roger Glover and Guests - The Butterfly Ball And The Grasshopper's Feast in October 1975.

John Gustafson, father of five children in two marriages, died from cancer September 12, 2014 in Whitstable, Kent, UK after a lengthy recording and live performance career, where he always put his family first..
