British label launched in 1950, before merging with Pye Nixa in 1955. It was later used again on some compilation CDs between 1988 and 1992.
Initial releases in 1950 were shellac 10" (using NY and BY prefixes) and 12" (using NZ and BZ prefixes). Long playing microgroove records appeared in 1951 (using LPY and LPZ prefixes for 10" and 12" respectively).
From the mid 1950s Nixa distributed recordings in the UK, Commonwealth and parts of Europe made by various US and overseas companies:
- Concert Hall recordings using the "CLP" prefix.
- Haydn Society recordings using the "HLP" prefix.
- Lyrichord recordings using the "LLP" prefix.
- Renaissance (6) recordings using the "PLP" prefix.
- Polymusic Records recordings using the "QLP" prefix.
- Sounds Of Our Times recordings using the "SLPY" prefix.
- Urania Records (3) recordings using the "ULP" prefix.
- Vanguard recordings using the "VLP" prefix.
- Westminster recordings using the "WLP" prefix.
