Ogun

Profile:

Ogun (or Ogun Records or Ogun Recordings) is a jazz record label founded in London in 1973 by South African expatriate bassist Johnny Dyani in groups like McGregor's Brotherhood of Breath (featured on the label's first issue in 1974), Dean's Ninesense, and Miller's Isipingo.

When the Millers lived in the Netherlands in the early 1980s, the label was effectively inactive. After Harry Miller was killed in a car accident in 1983. Hazel Miller began to release new titles on LP in 1986, with help from Cadillac Records, and in 1990 changed the format of releases to CD. Since then, one to three new additions are made to the CD catalog most years. The majority are new or unreleased recordings, and some are CD editions of the earlier LP releases.
