Ampersand (2)

Profile:

Canadian Independent record label

Ampersand was a recording and distribution company formed by CKEY, a radio broadcaster that operated out of Toronto, Canada between 1945 to 1991. Ampersand was created in the early 1970s as a response to the CRTC's encouragement of more Canadian content on the radio. Several radio broadcasters, including CKEY and CHUM Ltd., created their own short-lived music publishing houses in an attempt to produce and distribute transcription recordings for themselves and other local radio broadcasters. However, Ampersand apparently folded quickly after its creation.
