I think Seifer gets it pretty right, but Dick Hazzard’s arrangement on Pradizer Adeus is arrestingly beautiful.

How can this album that, according to Wikipedia, has been recorded in February 1967 contain a cover of "With a little help from my friends", that the Beatles didn't record until March '67? -
Nothing too exciting here. The sound is rather dull, the overall presentation is quite forward, but there is no clear distinction between frequencies, mid-highs are above everything and lows are not as present and punchy as one would like. Very easy to follow, it's prone to occasional sibilances due to its excessive sharpness. Not too bad after all, but definitely not full-bodied as expected.

A very good sounding record! Very detailed, very broad soundstage. Glad to own this. -
Tremendous effort by the great master himself. A phenomenal look into the classy Brazilian snap and flair that only a true master of music and cultural icon could produce, and was in fact achieved by, only Sergio Mendes. A absolutely blast of paradise, with all of the tropical and soulful vibes you’ll need for any occasion, from a late night study session to a beautiful sunny day to work on your 65 Ds19… anything is possible with the joyous sounds of Sergio and the band cheering you on, stroking your sorrows away on their melodic slow waves. Thoughts will transiently take you… then away as you get lost once more in the voices, almost present in the room with you.
What joys this album brings! It is impossible not to begin to sway to the beat, wether a sad and lonely song of longing or a beautiful peppy and equatorial Brazilian rhythm. After listening to this album so many times I eventually had to remove it from my album sales! Sergio and the gang cover some songs on the album, and in typical style, almost bring a new speed and life to them. A harmony and groove unmatched!
This pressing sounds very clean and bright, as one might hope. The bronze labels are extremely tasteful and high quality, and shimmer colorfully without distracting from the tone with too much brightness.
My favorite track on the album is Tristeza. Truly a masterpiece that lives up to its name!

My favorite track on the album is “Pradizer Adeus”. Rich and melodic in the most soul-snaring away, it longingly reaches into your heart and shows the purest of feelings of loss and ion. Magnificent truly.

Dreamy bossa pop from the A&M studios of the 60s -- the Brasil 66 sound at its best! The style here is a perfect blend of real Brazilian influences and some of the hipper styles bubbling in the LA studio scene of the time -- all locked together perfectly by Sergio Mendes, in the twin-voiced style that let Brasil 66 transform any tune they could get their hands on! There's some really great numbers here of Brazilian origin -- including Joao Donato's "The Frog", Marcos Valle's "Batucada", and Gilberto Gil's "Roda" -- not to mention Sergio's own "Look Around", which is an especially charming number! Other titles include "The Look Of Love", "Pradizer Adeus", and "Like A Lover".
