Robert Johnson – King Of The Delta Blues Singers (Vol. II)

Sound quality seems muffled on most tracks compared to other pressings- wear or poor mastering? Great album though.

Is there anyone out there willing to scan a high resolution image of their OBI and add it to photos? My copy didn’t have one and I’d love to have it for my copy

The first Robert Johnson compilation from 1961 had a profound effect on rock music, though it was probably not widely realized at the time. It took another 9 years before the second release of Johnson's 78 recordings from the 1930s was released. It's amazing to think how long it took to get these songs out to a modern audience, as there are so many classics here. "Dust My Broom", "Sweet Home Chicago", and "Malted Milk". We're lucky that the Stones immortalized the beautiful "Love In Vain", even though their album 'Let It Bleed' came out the year before this release. Turns out that bootlegs of Johnson's alternate singles were being heavily circulated. It was kismet then that the world was treated to both fine renditions almost simultaneously.

I think this is the version I have (the photos of the label match, at least)... Shame no-one has been able to date it. I'd love to know when it was released.

Barcode is on a sticker, not printed on the actual sleeve.

My copy has no insert, but added "Printed in U.S.A." on back cover

Can anyone confirm the year of release? My copy does not show a year.

I believe Wes Garland, Nashville Record Productions (WG/NRP) cut the lacquers for this release; my copy also has a circled letter 'U' in the deadwax which indicates it's a United Record Pressing product. I also think it might be a 2008 reissue.

My copy is mislabelled from the factory, both sides have the "Side 2" sticker.

Title is actually "King of the Delta Blues Singers, Volume II," as shown on other versions of this release.
