Notes
Leprosy is the second studio album by American death metal band Death, released on November 16 1988, by Combat Records. Notably different in tone and quality from the 1987 debut, it is the first example of Scott Burns' work heard on many of the death metal and grindcore albums of that era. The cover is featured in Metal: A Headbanger's Journey. It is the first album to feature drummer Bill Andrews and the only one to feature guitarist Rick Rozz.

Edited 10 days agoAs of today, Leprosy remains the worst-sounding album among the regularly re-released remastered series from Relapse. If we evaluate not the music itself, which certainly deserves the highest assessment and, in of the quality of the composer's material, is still one of the most influential recordings in OSDM, namely how the mastering was prepared for reissue, then, to put it mildly, there is still a lot of confusion. The first and most important thing is the sound, which has almost no relief. The DR10 index is lower than that of vinyl or a disc from the first edition. It is felt that the volume of the tracks is greatly increased during remastering, which does not have a particularly positive effect on the overall impression. This vinyl sounds about the same as a disc, which kills the magic of sound from an analog media.
On the one hand, it is clear that this album has a certain legal background, so both the copyright holder and the publisher have agreed on the of the release of this album, so this version will be released during the period of the contract. But on the other hand, it is not very clear why an album with such a remastering was agreed to be released at the preparation stage. Objectively speaking, of all the six albums from Relapse, it sounds the most lifeless and flat. It is inferior not only to the originals, but also to pirated replicas that are made from the originals. Of course, there is no call to buy pirated products, but if you are not looking for a beautiful cover, not a poisonous vinyl coloring, not a commemorative booklet, namely sound, then the proposed Relapse version of the album may not give you such positive impressions. In of design, there is complete order here, vinyl sounds quite clean. This reissue deserves high praise for its desire to keep memory, but it also deserves criticism for its work on the sound in preparation. -
I have a version quite similar to this one (unfortunately, an unofficial Russian version). However, the only thing that my version differs from this is that it doesn't have that Combat logo on the top left of the back cover.

A pirate of a pirate release. Low quality print, though, compared to the original pirate version hee hee.

I think this is a self made (home made) version that only one person (the creator of this particular tape) owns it.
