Slamming record, but no one is talking about B side. Instrumental drama to stomp away on the dancefloor! don't sleep on that one.
-
Edited one year agoNice, but can’t unhear Roy Ayers’ Running Away, which in comparison is the clear winner IMO.

Danny Krivit played this last night a party to celebrate Vince Aletti's book 'The Disco Files', it sounded amazing. I think the first time I've ever heard it played in a club! Killer UK-produced dance floor bomb with an exceptional mix from Rick Gianatos.

Edited 19 years agoTRIVIA BIT: Never Let Go was originally a track on James Wells' debut album, My Claim to Fame. When I remixed the tracks for the album, True Love is my Destiny doubled in length and there was no room for Never Let Go. Plus, James' vocal was hideous. So, I made it an instrumental. Ian had already released a couple of Eastbound Expressway singles in the U.K. (I think they were on 20th Century Fox U.K.) and christened "Never Let Go" as an Eastbound Expressway track.

Edited 19 years agoSoulful and cleverly arranged disco-funk floor-filler which is more than slightly influenced by Roy Ayers' "Running Away". Big record on the underground disco circuit, and considering that it was produced by seminal Hi-NRG producer and former resident jock at UK's "Heaven", it's amazing that this wasn't more popular on the dancefloors of the day. Great electronically altered wah-wah guitar gives this tune a unique flavor. Excellent recording and mastering. "Never Let Go" is also really, really LONG at 9:55, and most of the 12 inch pressings include visual "Eye Cue" seperations in the groove arrangement to allow for on-the-fly quick-mix re-structuring: the intros, breaks, refrains and outro are easy to find. Mixed by West Coast DJ legend Rick Gianatos. Easy to find at a reasonable price, as MANY copies were pressed back in the day.
