Cygnus X – Superstring

Although the Rank1 remix is the one most people associate with Superstring and the one that gained the wider recognition, the true gems are found on this record. Cygnus X delivers a high paced interpretation of their own track. Stripping down the pads and leaving it only for the final crecendo. A sublime version. On the B-side Oliver Lieb (under his one off HCL monicker) delivers a fantastic dreamy version of Superstring. Very much in the same vein as some of his Spicelab productions on Harthouse. So if you are a fan of that this will be right up your alley.
Both remixes are excellent and far sures the much more commercial remix Rank1 released a few years later.

An absolutee belter. I must have seen every top DJ rinsing this at every U.K super club. If you already have the above, then look out for the 'rare' Rank 1 deep dub mix (another must have remix).

Dripping with gorgonzola but Trance from the early 2000's doesn't get much better than this. That pure unbridled feeling of eurpohria when those strings drop... if you were there in Amnesia or a similar venue back in the day you will know what I'm talking about.

Gold record, two sides being absolutely iconic to the history of trance music.
Finest production quality by the legendaries Matthias Hoffmann & Ralf Hildenbeutel !

Stands the test of time over 20 years old

Superb bangin' Deep Dub mix by Rank 1. Almost everyone went nuts about the famous remix by Rank 1 of this classic Cygnus X track but I highly doubt that they have heard this bangin' Deep Dub mix. After all these years it still is one of my favourite hardtrance tracks. I even me buying this brilliant piece of music on vinyl at the once famous Magik Muzik Store, owned by Tiësto & Co. Cor Fijneman was behind the cashier, very special moment.

Forgo all the Superstring remixes unless you're a flamboyant cheesehead. The original mix is where it's at — a true masterpiece. Fast-paced yet intricate percussion, melodious and enticing hooks, a thrumming bassline, and the elegance and minimalism that only an early classic 90s Trance record can provide. 5/5

I decided to pick up the "Superstrings" single after hearing what I thought was "Superstrings" on Sasha & Digweed's NE2 West Coast edition. The song I was thinking of was "Positron" (mislabeled on NE2). I was disappointed with what I got here: a cheesy trance anthem. I guess some people will like this, but this is too overbearing for me to enjoy. Fans of uplifting, Ferry Corsten style trance might like this, but this is too cheesy for my tastes.

The original version of Superstring was released several years ago and has since gone on to become a trance classic. It's uplifting melody bouncing over a moderately paced beat with hands-in-the-air anthemic bits chucked in for good measure have insured it's longevity.

The far best remix on this CD is by Future Breeze. They add their skills to the mix with a dramatic new production. Overall, all the remixes help to breathe new life into a record that really has never died.
