The ''187 Lockdown'' mix on the a-side here is the best ever version of this track. I don't like Armand Van Helden's mix, and i don't know why became so popular.

No reviews?! Jesus, Armand those days was his own level, beast of a tune, lovely to mix with, now vocal is a bit 'indie' and perhaps even wack, but when that bassline drops even graveyards in distant lands come to life

There's no getting away from it "Spin Spin Sugar (Armand's Dark Garage Mix)" is an absolutely huge track, yes it had commercial crossover & we have all heard it some many times, but that shouldn't detract for it. Deep deep bassline, that haunting horn, skippy percussion and the vocal that has a certain edge to it, all mastered together to create a monster of a tune.

Is anyone certain this came out in the U.S. in 1996? It seems highly unlikely. -

Can anyone identify the quick, short, one shot sound that he plays for only a second but carries it on for about four or five seconds with a really short delay effect? -

Dirty... I'm talking about the Armand Van Helden remixes. Excellent stuff. I saw an interview with AVH & he mentioned how the UK wasn't letting go of the jungle sound & how big it was.
The Spin Spin Sugar mixes are a combination of music 'types', house, jungle & speed garage. AVH has taken the non-radio/club friendly original and created a fantastic track - which still sound great in 2017 after a 1996 release!
You can choose the dub or the vocal mix. Starting off with moody strings which then move into a snappy shake your rear beat with a big kick/snare accompanied by some jungle style sirens. A break follows with a timestretch female vocal sample 'Spiiiin Spiiiin Sugggarr', and when the beats return they are combined with a large, and I mean massive dirty killer bassline with an edgy jungle sound. More snappy beats and moody strings/chords with a few bridges + breaks, plus the timestretched vocals before gradually slowing down the tempo when outro beats roll in to call it a day.
The vocal mix features trippy lyrics 'See through me, Spin Spin Sugar etc' which are catchy and compliment the track for sure.
You will bring the house down! It's a stone cold classic. -

Dont watch Mr Van Helden on this one, its all about the Tuff Jam boys smashing it on Walking Zero.
Huge Pure Silk anthem from back in the day. Super soulful garage and instantanously recognisable as a Tuff Jam flavour.
Respect to Sneaker Pimps, dont know much about them and both these tracks have obviously been given a serious going over but I love the vocals on Walking Zero.
'To the madness I do confess forever see myself as blessed..' -

Armand's remix is a classic "no need for any other remixes" piece of work. This tune still sends shivers down my spine everytime I hear it. The bassline is "down and dirty" and the overall vibe is quite chilling and dark. Her vocals are quite "druggy" sounding and the lyrics suggest being sexual and provacative. "Spin Spin Sugar" is a classic song that should only be dropped on occasion while in the best of company. One of my all time fav's from 10 years ago that doesn't sound remotely dated at all. Every DJ should own this and logically so!! -
Like it or not, this is one of the filthiest dancefloor anthems around and still gets played almost as much today as it did when it was released. It's no wonder Mr. Van Helden won Muzik Magazine's 'Best Remix of 1997' award for this absolute stunner.
