Reviewing every record in my collection:

The sound on this Pressing is OUTSTANDING, this album was definitely meant to be played on an analogue format being it's all voices and done almost entirely without digital interventions. The Details, every single element of the songs shine through and if you listen to it with headphones, you can even feel a bit overwhelmed with how it "Tickles" in your ears. Also the packaging's great, nice gatefold. A 10/10 pressing (that runs at 45rpm? Couldn't ask for more!)

Unbelieveable to know this Album has turned 20 years... The studio production and the sounds (synths, FX...) used in these songs are still relevant nowadays. The concept of using mainly voices as instruments works well and is not boring or repetitive at all, each song is soulful.

This is a fantastic pressing of this album! There are sibilant moments on three tracks; “Vökuró”, “Submarine”, and “Ancestors”. However, they are not very noticeable. The side splits are actually represented differently for the eighth track “Desired Constellation”. On black pressings, it appears after “Submarine” on Side B, but now it appears as the first track on Side C.

On my copy it says that “desired constellation” is the last track on side B (as it stated here, too) but it isn’t, it’s the first on side C. Is it just mine? Misprint?

(Cleaned with the spinclean, played on the AT LP-120) Wonderful pressing! No surface noise, VERY bassey (was shocked considering how thin the pressing was tbh). It’s mastered very well too! Only conplaint rlly is that theres some minor scratches on sides A and B, but i DID buy it opened and (more than likely) played, so there’s not much I can do about that. I highly recommend adding this pressing to your björk collection

Bought this secondhand and it is full of static, pops and clicks even after cleaning. Another bad pressing in my collection, along with Vespertine..

Beware: it’s a standard black pressing made in the UK. NOT made in Japan. What makes it “Japanese” is an obi with Japanese lyrics in it. That’s the only difference. Do not buy it in high prices, not worth it

Both of my discs are a little warped but the vinyl is so thin that I don’t see how that could have really been avoided. I think it sounds better than my black record which is a bit too treble-y causing pretty bad sibilance in spots, however this one is better. Not much surface noise too, so I would recommend!

An experiment that is simultaneously a success and a failure, ultimately a victim of its own lofty intentions, or rather pretentions. Both layers are equally difficult but sound great. As a single song amidst a collection, this works, but an entire album...
