Foreigner – Double Vision

Simply a fantastic sounding record and likely the definitive version of this classic album. I've got the 1981 Mofi, the 2011 Mofi, and an OG Better Records Hot Stamper, and this Atlantic 75 pressing tops them all. Glad I decided to get this one, because it's worth every penny. The drums are so impactful, the soundstage is perfect, and Lou's vocals have never sounded better. If you're on the fence about buying this one, don't hesitate on pulling the trigger!

After the first play of the LP, I was very pleasantly surprised.Sound-wise perfect.

My 1st pressing is a sonic knockout, thanks to the efforts of Marino and Olsen (Pogo in the deadwax). Let us now praise the golden pipes of Lou Gramm!

Feels like everything hits just right for this release on my system. Simply a classic I buying on week of release back in '78. Good records are expensive but it's worth it to me to have them sound the best they ever have when all is said and done I'll have purchased about 20 titles from the Atlantic 75 series.

100% agree. Another home run. This has got to be one of the best series in reissue history.

This one is interesting as it has "POGO" in the dead wax. It is presumably using the same stampers as the US Presswell. However, it is cleaner than the US version. I don't find it any different in of the bass or other aspects of the sound signature.

Also compared to the subsequent Japanese pressing, there's no real difference. Possibly a very very small one, but it's difficult to detect.

Some Japanese pressings will have the lower end cut a bit. I don't see that as being the case for any of the Foreigner albums I own (Double Vision or otherwise). I think they kept Foreigner pretty accurate and true to their counterparts from other countries.

Both Japanese pressings are of excellent quality and I prefer them over US versions. They are just a lot cleaner. It's possible that an early US pressing may be better (before the stampers wore down a bit), but the recycled vinyl is definitely noticeable and likely the bigger reason for the quality difference. The Japanese pressings are the way to go on this album and most Foreigner from what I have experienced so far.

This 24-bit / 192 kHz release is as smooth as glass or as sharp as a razor, as the music dictates. Can't get any closer to directly playing the master tapes from the comfort of your easy chair. I my book this is Foreigner's crowning achievement.
