Yeah it’s way too low level, but I don’t have any noise issues so… I guess it’s ok for me! Thee album is still a classic though! -

The volume on this album is ridiculously low, unlistenable.
Other hip hop albums that shouldn't be on one LP don't sound great,
but none I own sound this horrible as this one.
Will probably end up reselling this one. -

I have this edition and can confirm that it was very noisy when I bought it. But a wood-glue treatment cleared up the surface crackle and obnoxious pops. And while the mastering is pretty quiet, that can be fixed with the volume control. Honestly, I think it sounds great. And I like the fact that it's a single disc release. Any quality loss is offset by the fact that I don't have to get off my couch every fifteen minutes to turn the record over. -

Seems like they're going from the og vinyl masters here, which honestly wouldn't be a bad thing but Def Jam was notorious for single lp pressings well into the era where 2lp was essential. So yeah, its kinda quiet. If you're DJing this one, definitely don't be too handsy cutting this t up or you'll get some cue burn in no time, also could create issues if your decks aren't isolated well. Other than that it sounds ok, I mean, the bass is definitely gimped for sure but it doesn't sound horrible. -
Solid debut. Redman already demonstrated his lyrical prowess early on with his verses on EPMD's "Hardcore" and "Headbanger", but his first LP takes it to the next level. Reggie further proved himself to be a skilled lyricist with lots of clever wordplay and screwball humor galore. He also played around with different personas and characters which would become a fairly consistent theme in his next few albums throughout the decade. The beats which are supplied by Erick Sermon and occasionally Redman chiming in on the boards are nothing but neck-snapping boom bap with the E's signature barrage of funk samples from anything with George Clinton, James Brown or Roger Troutman attached to it. There are some unexpected ones thrown in there too like the small horn snippet from the Stevie Wonder hit "Superstition" found on the chorus to "Watch Yo Nuggets". Pete Rock also adds some of his own unique flavor to the instructional fan favorite deep cut "How to Roll a Blunt". Or how about the lovely sped-up Isaac Hayes sample used as the backbone to "Tonight's Da Night"? Redman kept it rugged and raw without taking himself too seriously, making it a very enjoyable listen for anyone who loves early 90s East Coast hip-hop that gets you hella hyped with nearly every track.

Low volume but it doesn’t sound bad at all. You can def hear a bit of background noise but doesn’t detract from the listening experience. Sorta reminiscent of the 36 Chambers vinyl that’s been pressed up until VMP did a 2x LP reissue. Although I’m slightly disappointed in this release. -

i feel like this R da kind of record that have a raw sense, the press represent it, i needed to pump up the volume when i play this on my set, and i love it, sounds dirty, the speakers was being sucked back and forth -

So disappointed that there's finally a reissue of this classic and THIS is the quality we get? One of the quietest albums I've heard in the last 20ish years, I had to check to make sure my receiver hadn't turned off or blown, it was that quiet. Don't waste your money. -

Terrible sound quality. Sub standard. Shame on you Def Jam. -

Probably the lowest volume modern album I've ever heard. Had to add about 10-15 dbs from my normal levels, and still........eh. Too bad.
