John Denver – Poems, Prayers & Promises

Some people love John Denver...I'm not one of them. The cover of "Fire and Rain" is insipid. "Let It Be" fares only slightly better. He also covers McCartney's "Junk", and adds absolutely nothing to it...the most banal and derivative cover I've ever heard. "Sunshine On My Shoulders", "Wooden Indian", and "The Box" are all cringe-inducing in their own special ways. My copy plays fine, with no noticeable surface noise, but this pressing seems to suffer from distortion any time Denver's vocals become too earnest and overwrought.

Seems like this listing encomes both the promo and standard 1971 release from Japan? I ordered this and the numbers match on the labels, but it's not a white label, and I don't see a standard 1971 release for this record.

As with a lot of dynaflex LPs, this one is very noisy with a lot of pops and clicks. However, the mastering is alright though there's quite a bit of sibilance.

Snap, Crackle, Pop stay away and this is 2'nd copy first one warped and poppy too.

I bought two, both came scuffed and scratched sealed, beware

Cool pressing, great album. Unfortunately I keep hearing crackles in one channel of my stereo. I’ve adjusted anti-skate which helps slightly, but still is very irritating. This is the only record I have this specific issue.

I was happy to hear this LP sounded open and balanced. John Denver's vocals are really enjoyable on this album. Some excellent tracks too. So happy to have this LP in my collection. Very good pressing.
