Wow… my mind is blown hearing this masterpiece on this pressing. 100% worth it, just pure perfection: super crisp and dynamic. The soundstage is also really good.

Scored this on eBay for pretty cheap and it arrived today in better shape than anticipated. After a trip to the dunk tank (spin clean) I put it on and agree with the hype this is fantastic sounding pressing. Money when it kicks in at 4:4 and Us and Them during the swells are pretty damn satisfying.

THANK YOU for including the pic of the yellow banner top of front cover!!!!! I COULD NOT tell the difference from the '79 & the '81 version through matrix numbers (nothing matched up quite enough) until I saw the pic of the DIFFERENT FONTS for the "ORIGINAL MASTER RECORDING" yellow banner at top. Turns out I have the '79 version! Thank you to whomever included this detail in pics! It was not mentioned in notes for either release. Maybe I should edit those...

Excellent pressing, really good! I agree with the other comments below
Although i got a Japanese 3rd pressing from 1974. I compared this pressing with the Japanese pressing.
The Japanese pressing is a bit more punchy and more dynamic than this Original Master Recording from Mofi.
You can immediately notice with the part during the song "on the run" where the guy is running in the airport. The footsteps are much more alive on the japanese pressing than this one.
Also the people speaking during the japanese record is more clear and noticable than the Original Master Recording pressing.
The sound itself is generally almost identical. No big differences.
Overall, the price is very similair. I think i would go with the Japanese pressing if i knew the differences before, but this copy is a must have a for a collector especially with the inserts that coming with it.

Seems like everyone else has already said everything that needs to be said. If you're a fan of this album, this is the one to have. Not much else needs to be mentioned.

I have had a 1975 pressing of DSOTM since I started collecting. I just got this copy at a local store (no inserts unfortunately) and I'm blown away. I haven't even given it a deep clean yet and the difference is already staggering.

Finally heard this pressing via a heavily modded Linn LP12 into a Gold Note PH1000 phono stage into a Vincent class A integrated amp and finally out of some old Martin Logan ESL's and......
It was bloody mind blowingly good!! Liquid sound, instrumentations popping all over the place. Compared to my dry, flat, lumpy 2016 remaster it is a totally different experience and one to be enjoyed again after not wanting to hear this on vinyl based on the 2016 remaster. This is even better than the AP SACD which was my reference til now.
Simply Awesome.
Also ESL loudspeakers = Otherwordly!! -
