Forgot I bought this months ago. So I finally open it, and sure enough. Scratched, right out of the packaging. Oddly enough, these scratches on side 2 seem to also line up with the sharpness of the edge of the foldback inside the jacket. Go ahead and reach in and feel it. Is yours also sharp? This now gives me concern about picking up any others in this series.
Other then that, it sounds awesome. It plays through fine. No dishing in this one.
Oh i love how they cheaped out with those crappy white paper sleeves. Figured this would've came with a paper/poly one. -
This sounds extremely good, very nice that they're reissuing these with little struggle or issues as a whole.
Dare I'd say, there's less tinniness (due to the electronic drums) than on say, the streaming version.
Album wise, this conceptually follows the same path as his previous album, retaining the glam rock style provided by "Here Come the Warm Jets" and some earlier Roxy Music material. While the album generally leans towards a different sound than the previous album, with less VCS3 squealing and treated instrumental loops - It still retains a few musicians, most notably Phil Manzanera. Regardless, it is an excellent album to have if you are interested in Eno's material before his ambient period - when he was still within the fold of the glam community. -

My copy came with slight dishing. I suspect it was how the it was stored at the shop. Regardless, this is a solid pressing. I only have the halfspeed pressing of Another Green World (which sounds phenomenal). This is probably just a notch below in sound quality, but definitely an excellent alternative if you don't want to shell out 30 plus dollars.

There is an Europian pressing of this right? Mine has different barcode and was definietly pressed in Europe

Nice pressing of this Eno classic. The record is centered correctly and plays dead quiet. Most importantly, the mix is wonderfully rich with a deep, strong bass throughout. The packaging is also impressive in that it mimics the original quite nicely, including the fold out gatefold. Highly recommended.

Edited 7 years agoSound is a little thin, and there’s some tape dropouts (though not unbearable), but the actual physical pressing quality is A++. Crank up the bass a bit and enjoy

This record really sounds amazing! A nice thick gatefold sleeve and a record free of visible or audible defects. A great alternative to those not wanting to shell out the money for a clean original copy or one of the more expensive 2xLP reissues.
