Is there such a thing as a perfect album? Maybe not, but this thing comes close. What you get here is Willie Nelson & his band, (the Family) playing an entire album of Kristofferson songs. Kris himself is along to sing some backup. In many cases, Willie's versions are superior to the originals. It's laid back, yet lively... a perfect piece of outlaw country vinyl.
Key tracks are the Pilgrim, Loving Her Was Easier and Don't Tell Me How The Story Ends, which features what my friends and I call 'the note'. It's one note that Willie sings that will bring the most hardened criminal to tears. This album is shamefully overlooked; a true gem.
