Edited 6 years agoHomeboy really needs to reissue this 12". Different (but related obv.) sound from the later Gas of lore. Simply some of the best electronic music ever made.

Been spinning this lately and enjoying it more than ever. Really wish there was a decent digital version, as it's not on the box (maybe next time). I could've sworn purchased it digitally from Kompakt's short-lived digital store, but unfortunately that was many computers and moons ago.

Edited 19 years agoAn interesting release, with a much more diverse sound that what is typically found on the longer 'Gas' releases. 'Heller' is the most beautiful song in the entire 'Gas' library, which is saying much. 'Klang' seems forgettable, but 'Roter' and 'Stern' are excellent pieces of somber ambience. This album is a powerful demonstration of W. Voigt's mastery of producing engaging minimalism.

Terrific this one, the style is that of the first GAS LP, meaning that there are no easily identifiable samples of Disco guitars and Wagner and Schoenberg works, but soft and mysterious and mesmerizing textures instead. However, these four tracks are a bit more . One track sounds like Tangerine Dream's "Zeit". Another is a 4/4 techno track like from the most remote galaxy in existance, sort of deepest sleep. The best track is the last one, a brighter version of the opener of the GAS LP (MP32) with some lively dissonances built in. Better and much more abstract and neutral than later GAS stufff, no kitsch, a must have for ambient freaks and for experimental enthusiasts! I bought two and the used one is now for sale.
