Kate Bush is not great at compiling Kate Bush rarities albums... Honestly she should've had her agents ANY hardcore fan to assist in tracklisting "The Other Sides". I GUARANTEE we would've ended up with a FAR more complete collection of non-album songs, b-sides, instrumentals, remixes and extended versions, live versions... instead TOS ends up piecemeal, measly and half-arsed. Was she just in a mood the day she went through the archives? Is Kate Bush not that much of a Kate Bush fan to leave so much stuff out of TOS???
Like with the Hounds Of Love remaster - why eject the album version of Big Sky and plonk the 7" version on the album instead?! Did she misplace the album version that day? Did it annoy her that much that it just had to go? Why wasn't the 7" put on TOS instead where it should've gone? Why can't we fans get a 40-something track 'best of' including extras?? Is it really that difficult a task for Kate?

It really is all just BAFFLING to me.

Thank God for the This Woman's Work box set !?
Seriously Kate Bush, and I mean this with much love - DO BETTER !!

BEWARE: these box sets can still be found brand new **FAR** cheaper on Amazon than what all the greedy b*stards here are trying to rip you off for. Make sure you look elsewhere FIRST.

Is this box set glossy or matte? Just wondering since there seem to be glossy & matte versions of the Box Set Part I

An opinion of both Remastered I (CD) & Remastered II (CD)
          **
          Summary:
There are some excellent inclusions here - but in my opinion the omissions outweigh. Definitely an 'only for the hardcore fans' release; casual fans should get 'The Woman's Work' box and the later releases cheaper secondhand.
          **
Whilst I love that the original 3 albums have finally been remastered and reissued with Kate's control I'm disappointed with the omissions on "The Other Sides" - 4x 30ish minute CDs (which could easily have been 2x 60-70min CDs) with obviously enough space to include official released remixes from The Red Shoes era and a good selection of the other tracks missing previously included in the This Woman's Work (1990) set. It astonishes me that 1985's "Not This Time" was not included (.. not this time, ahem ...), and 'The Empty Bullring' - such a loss!

The one previously unreleased track - 1975 recording of 'Humming' is stellar and well received.

After years of since the 1990 set, the instrumental versions of 'Running Up That Hill', 'The Dreaming' ('Dreamtime') and 'The Sensual World' are still not included on CD release for their first time - nor 'Moments of Pleasure' instrumental. We are still not offered other tracks missing from the This Woman's Work release (1990's 'The Confrontation', 1987 version of 'Be Kind to My Mistakes').

For my opinion the main album discs have plenty of space to collect the works of that era instead of 'The Other Sides' - to avoid repetition on same disc, include a remix set (including single mixes - where's 'Army Dreamers' single mix or 'Man With the Child' video mix?) - there would be fewer discs and much more cohesive. Replacing / updating 'The Big Sky' was also a mistake - the album mix suited the flow of the album better and the single mix belongs on a long overdue updated Best Of. I notice the play length of for 'Eat the Music' has reduced by 15 seconds.

These omissions will undoubtedly feature in some future release, hopefully we don't have to wait (30+ years?) for Albert to re-release his mother's catalogue posthumously. Some fans (like myself) intend to be around that long, but a good proportion are in her age group (or older) and may never see that release.

Updating Aerial 'A Sky of Honey' to remove Rolf Harris and add Albert McIntosh is not my favourite decision - the work exists, you cannot deny it was what you wanted at the time - but, I understand the reasoning -- however its logic is defeated in that Harris contribution was not removed/revisited out from 'The Dreaming' also.
