The fourth track is really good. If it's a nice discovery for someone, it would definitely be worth looking around a bit more in ambient. Maybe such a Brian Eno and his classic On Land or Apollo would be an exploration in the right direction. Though the third part of Calypso is a bit of a let-down, Jarre shows his brilliance in full force in the massively long title track.
On the first listen I found it to be the most boring thing ever ("Waiting for music" is what some people called it jokingly), but it quickly dawned on me just how ingenious this piece really is.
Ambient in a nutshell, and in perfection - highly recommended!

I agree - the fourth track, 'Waiting For Cousteau' is brilliant - bought the album when it came out, was a MASSIVE Jarre fan before that, wasn't sure about the album first off, as it was a total direction change from his earlier works, however, 22 years on and i still play it, always head straight to track 4 though!

A real mixed bag here. I'm not a big Jarre fan, so my advice is get this just for track 4 which is one of the best chill-out tracks you are likely to hear (not something you'd think Jarre would produce).
