Edited 2 months agoI got this box set for Christmas “86” along with a pair of Michael Jordan’s, I had absolutely no idea who Michael Jordan was but at 9 year old i sure as hell knew who “the boss” was!
You absolutely can’t go wrong with this box set. You can pick these up in literally unplayed condition for less than a Big Mac meal goes for these days. These LP’s sound excellent and really put a lot of light on the piss poor quality of many of the records produced today and the price gauging that occurs. Could you imagine what a collection like this would cost today? -

This has to be one the best bang for your buck sets in vinyl. $15 on eBay for an NM copy and the sound is devine

Does anyone know where I can find a special variant of this album? Priced around 250. I need it as a gift for my boss and this is what they gave me as a budget.

I found a near mint copy, literally one of the if not the best vinyl box set and the value is crazy. The sound is excellent. -

WOW- if you are a BS fan this is a must own. It's amazing you can pick this up for $20-$30!!! It cost that in 1986. The who's who of production and engineering worked on this. The pressing is fantastic. Mine are MINT. The records are super quiet. Very dynamic and so spacious. The live versions spanning 11 years is such a journey. Dollar for dollar it's hard to beat the sound quality and production. -
In 2020 War on Drugs released the seminal live album Live Drugs, the album featured a live setlist comprised of one song from individual cities the band laid waste to. The album gave us all a great memory, meaning we could listen to a song while pointing and saying, “I was at that show” with a sly smile.
While I’m not arguing that Live 1975-85 is good or not, from the hundreds of venues Springsteen played at between 1975 and 1985, the 40 songs, spanning 5 vinyl albums were drawn from but 8 venues, leaving me to wonder why in over 10 years all of those other venues were left out in the cold, seeming to be second rate performances.
That being said, Live 1975-85 is a super nice release, capturing most of Springsteen’s best material, though numbers such as “Adam Raised A Cain” could have easily been forgotten in my book. Also, the material drawn from the Roxy is the only stumbling point for me, there’s no urgency to the sound, certainly no fireworks hailing over Little Eden. The pressing quality is first rate featuring dynamic sound. The box contains a delightful book and each album sleeve features additional information, with the actual box holding up rather well after nearly 40 years; certainly not like the 1970 George Harrison All Things Must , with a box that fell apart just by looking at it sideways.
This releases captures the Boss at the height of his success with an on-fire band and crowds that had been relentlessly waiting for the man.
