Edited one month agoPicked this up, cleaned it, and spinning...Wax is flat, almost zero surface noise, and as for the sound, at first, kind of washed out (separation seemed to be defined nicely and sounded better, when I got closer to my speakers, seemed like the sound stage was a small bubble) then I cranked it up and it opened up. The sound is bright (which is how a lot of recordings sounded in the 70's which may be kind of strange in todays bass heavy mix of everything) it could've used a little more bass in the kick drum and the Bass to add a bit more punch IMO ...Overall, not bad...at least not on my set-up...
(Fluance RT-82 w/Acrylic Platter, ATN-XP cart/5 stylus. Nobsound T3 Phono Amp, Aiyima A07 Pro, Kicker KB6B, & 2x Polk PSW10 Subs...Simple Low Cost Setup)...Happy Listening -
Not a perfect or standout pressing by any means but it's vibrant and dynamic, and packs a decent punch at times. Gave it thorough ultrasonic cleansing and achieved a significant improvement. Played it side by side against Spotify and Tidal and found the vinyl much more suited to my taste.

Edited 4 years agoI don't know if I just got a dud or what, but I am terribly disappointed with this pressing.
The hype sticker talks-up how they went back to the 1/4" masters, and I was expecting a strong, punchy clean pressing that would blow my hair back -- I have been listening to these songs for decades and know well how they SHOULD sound. This pressing ain't it (at least my copy). If anything, this tinny-sounding trash is closer to a.m.-radio than it is to the punk masterpiece it really is. I have gone back to this pressing several times (each time I think "maybe I was too harsh last time?"), and every time I start to think that maybe there's something wrong with my receiver/t.table set-up. It's honestly that bad... a horrible fuzzy tone seems to lay over every song, making every song sound exactly the same. It sounds blown-out, fuzzy and tinny and just crappy. 1979 pressings sound great. Hell, the old CD I bought in the 90's sounds great too.
I don't know if it's just my pressing, I'd love to read other reviews.
I wasn't too fussed with their recent "Love Bites" re-release either, although it's miles better than this mess.
