There is an alternative inner for this release. It has a ship next to the line "Virgin Islands May 1st to May 31st" and there is no ship or final line of text after "all who sail the MPL". I have seen both types of inner with early copies. -
Edited 10 months agoFUN FACT: US pressing. The rear photo, to the left of Denny Laine, the building behind him, is chopped off at the rightmost tower, but on the UK sleeve you see more of it. You also see more of Denny's right arm. Typical Crapitol - no love for Sir Macca.

It's easy to scoff at optimism but when you need some, Paul tries hard to provide it. It'll be unbearable when he finally goes for many reasons but he is one of the few optimists left in popular culture. Something we need these days just to counter the unrelenting doom and gloom that mass media feeds us day after day.
I say this because London Town is definitely a cheerful album. Not all of it great, some of it is, but there's a good dollop of not so good. Even then though, the boldness of Macca's optimistic spirit is a refreshing and nourishing element to make this whole thing work out.
Yep original pressing sounds great. Dynamic and rich.
And yeah, I got the beautiful poster! :) -

First uk press - as beautiful as can be : very well balanced clear and dynamic - the bass is also very impressive - great version of that wonderful album -
Edited 3 years agoPoor London Town. Doesn’t seem to get much love. Well, I think it’s great. It has a nice, laidback, almost folky vibe in places. With A Little Luck is a classic Macca song, and I was always surprised that the title track was never a big hit single. My copy doesn’t have the poster. Boo ☹️
Where’s the deluxe edition archive release ?????? I want !!!! -
I have what looks like an original UK copy of this (no poster) but the inner sleeve is different. It's got much the same design, but it's missing the little pink and blue London Bridges set behind the text. I can't find any images of an inner like this. Is it a rarity/miss-print?
