By far the best I've ever heard this record sound. Great separation, huge open soundstage, some of the purest sounding bass I've ever heard, just phenomenal all around. Always loved the homespun charm of this album, and the casual and relaxed nature of the lyrics and production, and it still has that organic feel to it on this wonderful reissue. Purchased new and sealed, went straight to the turntable with zero issues...no surface noise, scratches, scuffs, warp, etc. Nice, flat, and very quiet.

Very nice record, although it does not have the same guitar buzzing as the UK 1st, it cleans Paul’s voice up so that sibilance is not a big issue. I think it does a great job at being quiet, but some people might not be as lucky since the damn record comes in a thick paper sleeve.

Except maybe I'm amazed, the proposed music is not excited !
that was said, the soundscape is beautiful because of the half speed mastering. -
Excellent pressing all around! Great sound, best I've heard! (And my beagle looked around as if to say "WTF?" during "Kreen-Akrore.")
-
Any idea why the lyric insert sheet from the previous reissues was not included in this half-speed remaster?

Edited 4 years agoA little bit disappointed :
SOUND : i already got a half speed mastering of dire straits brothers in arms, and this one is not as good.
SLEEVE : I received my record with a lot of surface noise, and plenty of marks and wears caused by the inadequat quality of the white inner sleeve, the paper is big and it scratches the record while it is shipped to the futur owner. no bonus, lyrics or whatsoever...
who must we to tell them to bannish paper inner sleeve !!!!!!????? -

Listening this touchstone album as half speed mastering is very good experience. I didn't like inner sleeve because it is so rought. This cause some micro scratches during packing or storage.
