Stunning vinyl reissue of one of the true high points of 1960's Blue Note sessions (though hidden away at the time). Oblique is an absolute classic with all 4 band working together intuitively and at the top of their form. This Tone Poet issue sounds mighty - highly recommended.

Maybe the best sounding of all the Tone Poets.
Somehow chill and edgy at the same time. Hilariously bad faux Reid Miles cover though. I’d actually say it might be the worst Blue Note cover I’ve ever seen!
But enough whining, the music is absolutely essential. Better than Happenings imo. -

This is back in print on the Blue Note web site, along with most other Tone Poet releases, including several others like Chet Baker Sings, Grant Green - Africa and Lee Morgan - Cornbread that had previously been scarce. Do not feel the need to pay scalpers more than $39 for it.

Terrific sound quality; my copy arrived in perfect shape. I love this lineup: Hancock and Hutcherson together are awesome, and Stinson and Chambers round things out really well. The title track had totally mind-blowing work on the vibes, but I like the overall "vibe" of side A best (no pun intended).

When are we getting restocks on this and The Kicker? Ridiculous at this point, no way I’m paying scalpers

Anyone know the story why they wouldn't use the original '79 cover? That one is so friggin cool...this one is kinda bland.
-
My repress “preorder” which was previously delayed indefinitely has been given an update with an expected release in December.
