Up the Irons 🤟🏻

was looking for a vinyl version as i still recall having the cd years ago . Glad i manage to get this UK press . Real awesome sound mastering . Not so emphasize on its highs as some DMM have that sibilance , this is balance and still punchy . Almost no surface noise . One of iron maiden top tier album , no regrets with this copy .

I can't express enough about how much this album means to me. This album in my opinion is perfection although I will it initially it was a slow burn, but every time I come back it never fails to get me and I need to listen it all the way through. stand out songs... throw a dart they're all great but for me side B is what always hits the hardest and my favorite songs are ''Stranger in a strange land'' and The loneliness of the long distance runner''. Artwork goes without saying is awesome - you can get lost looking for all the little Easter eggs hidden away. I'm not sure if its the overall vibe of the album primarily being based in sci-fi / time or just more towards my background as a guitar player and appreciating the performance. the guitar synths especially add such a great flavor to the Maiden sound and everything is just sonically so crisp and polished. for me this isn't only the best Maiden album but its also peaking in my greatest albums of all time list and definitely would be top 10 for sure. Please give this album a spin and I think you'll be sucked n by the opening riff of "caught somewhere in time'' and you'll be hooked by the time you get to side B and that for me is where all my favorite songs are.

This is my favorite album of all time.
Made by my favorite band of all time.
Everything about this album is as close to perfection as an album can get. The use of synthesizers is very good and adds a lot to the general atmosphere of the album and it's futuristic themes. This album is also fat-free! I'd say that there is no filler present here! Every track adds to the final product. The song writing here is also some of the best from the band's earlier releases, namely on tracks such as "Wasted Years" and "Deja Vu". My personal favorite song off of the album is the opening track "Caught Somewhere in Time" although I also REALLY love "Stranger in a Strange Land' and "Alexander the Great". Bruce's vocals are top notch, as well as Steve's epic bass riffs. Dave and Adrian's guitar work is also top notch as always. And of course to be expected is Niko's amazing drumming. Iron Maiden's cover art is as much a part of the band's identity as the music, and this album's cover is a solid example of that. This puts the ART in album art!
Generally this is an incredible album that I can't recommend enough. -
Not my favourite when I listenned to it back in the 90's but I have to it it is one of the best sounding maiden album. Especially for the drum. Listen to the bass drum kick...it is really clear to listen to and think that Nicko is just using one single feet...

Edited 2 years agoWhen i brought this on release day (and I don't want to think how long ago that was) I was a little unsure about this. But it grew on me, and is now my fav release of theirs. Amazing album.

My copy of this does not have the 8"x8" insert but it DOES have an 11"x11" 8-page booklet giving all the tour dates, all the equipment each member uses, photos of others involved (tech crew and Riggs) and in-concert photos. Does anyone else have this? I do not see this booklet mentioned anywhere in this listing.

Edited 3 years agoA Masterpiece of an album BEYOND WORDS songwriting-wise and as an OVERALL sounding product. Maiden's FINEST sounding album: the CRISPNESS & RICHNESS of sounds on SIT is BEYOND THIS WORLD & is SUPERIOR to ANY OTHER Maiden album. Albums that are considered ''better'', like Piece of Mind for example, sound like a bad rehearsal compared to SIT. Other Maiden albums that came close in of sound/s are mostly those after Live After Death, like SSOASS, NPFTD, FOTD & especially VIRTUAL XI, which is CLOSEST to it in of ''moodiness" as well. There are NO ''rocking'' songs on it, but everything sounds dreamy & EPIC. Damn, how I ENJOY listening to Somewhere in Time & Virtual XI when I just wanna lay down & relaxxxxxxxxxxxxx....ahhh!!! NOTHING else will do the job BETTER than these two. SUPER SPECIAL ALBUMS FOR MAIDEN FANS WITH SUPER SPECIAL TASTE (& some brain). 15 points out of ten.

Edited 4 years agoWasted years - now that’s how to start a song
Incidentally some idiot’s posted up a video for wasted years but Alexander the Great plays out - too much head banging. Right, I’m back off to the rave tent before I get pilloried.
