Track 2-1: One of the earliest demos of "Space Oddity" recorded around January 1969 with John 'Hutch' Hutchinson. Previously unreleased.
Track 2-2: A demo recorded with John 'Hutch' Hutchinson in March/April 1969
Track 2-3: Rare, alternate version featuring the Paul Buckmaster introduction recorded at Trident Studio in June 1969. Released as B-side to "Space Oddity" in July 1969. Marked as Single B-Side on the tracklisting.
Track 2-4: Includes "Brian Matthew interview with David" (1:28)
Tracks 2-4 to 2-6: Recorded at Studio 2, Aeolian Hall, New Bond Street, London. Recorded for the D.L.T. (Dave Lee Travis) Show on October 20th, 1969. "Unwashed And Somewhat Slightly Dazed" was the only recording from this session broadcast at the time, however it has remained unreleased commercially until now. "Let Me Sleep Beside You" and "Janine" were previously released on the 'Bowie At The Beeb' collection in 2000.
Track 2-7: Recorded at the same Trident Studio session as track 2-9, "The Prettiest Star", in January 1970. Originally scheduled as the follow-up single to "Space Oddity". This stereo version was previously only available on the 'Sound + Vision' 4CD box set in 2003. An earlier version was recorded as a possible single B-side at Decca Studios on March 12, 1968.
Track 2-8: The original mono single version was released in March 1970 on Mercury Records as the follow-up single to "Space Oddity". This stereo version was previously only available on 'David Bowie - The Best Of 1969/1974'.
Track 2-9: A previously unreleased stereo mix of a track previously featured in mono on the B-side of "The Prettiest Star" in March 1970.
Tracks 2-10 & 2-11: Parts 1 and 2 of this electric version was re-recorded from the album and released as a single on Mercury Records in June 1970. Both parts of the single were previously available on the EMI/Ryko reissue of the album 'Space Oddity' in 1990. They are marked on the tracklisting as Single A-Side and Single B-Side respectively.
Track 2-12: A previously unreleased mix of the full band album version.
Track 2-13: A previously unreleased mix of the album version clocks in at over two minutes longer than the original mix.
Track 2-14: Recording details as per track 2-7. However this alternate stereo mix is previously unreleased.
Track 2-15: This Italian version of "Space Oddity", translated as "Lonely Boy, Lonely Girl", was recorded at Morgan Studios on December 20th, 1969 and released in Italy in 1970. The single version previously appeared on 'Bowie Rare' LP on RCA in 1983, however this version is previously unreleased.
