THE SONGS IN the house that Geoff Farina built are universally personal odes that remain timeless charmers ala non-contrived. Appearing solo outside of full on rock band The Secret Stars - Farina displays his appealing brand of song craft (without whine or whimper) with just an acoustic guitar accompanied by varying telecaster guitar lines (adding touches of slide and various electronic effects) weaving though the acoustic chord progressions beautifully. Throw in a vocal track vibe that ties it all together and what you've got is a polished 13 song solo debut inspired from a day in the life of a musician on his day off in a coffee house reading Frank Lloyd Wright's "The Natural House" followed by a nap in a van then having a "moment" on the front steps of a church. Never once evoking any sort of "genre-of-the-day" - Farina remains a personal favorite songwriter of mine - his music cleansing and inspiring.
