Iron Maiden vinyls just hit different don't they. This sounds incredible, loud, clear and Blaze's vocals shine through. Awesome package.

A very intriguing release for a variety of reasons.

I was first drawn to this record after discovering the bizarre connection this has with post-rock legends Godspeed You! Black Emperor; on Slow Riot For New Zero Canada EP track BBF3, a crazy parking ticket offender (credited as Blaise Bailey Finnegan the Third) spouts a rap which takes the lyrics from Virus; it's no coincidence then given that the vocal duties of the source are taken up by none other than interim Iron Maiden singer Blaze Bayley.

Secondly the inclusion of songs from the Soundhouse Tapes (a rare EP in of itself) as B-sides; possibly some of the earliest recordings of the band.

Next comes the fact that Iron Maiden appear to have completely disowned this song. It doesn't appear on any studio albums, nor has it appeared on any live sets since Bruce Dickinson's return to the band (according to Wikipedia anyway; citation needed...). Which is a shame of course as this is a really underrated track ionately delivered by the real BBF.

From a collector's point of view however this is probably a good thing as this single is unlikely to be reissued anytime before hell freezes over! If they change their minds though, could they do me a favour and centre the cover title 'VIRUS' in Eddie's mouth please. It's been bugging me for ages!
