Edited 6 years agoI only heard The Kool Keith side, and I can say this record had as many characters as those that Keith created in his own right by himself. Ill rhymes from the whole lot. "Lyriscist Lounge" includes some rare gems from Talib Kweli, Company Flow , Native Tongues , the Outsidaz and a collab from KRS with Rage's De La Rocha to boot! This record is a great accompaniment while walking down the block or sitting down trying to gain piece of mind. Lyrical soundbombing at it's finest, and yes, I am aware this tape isn't even apart of that particular series.

Edited 5 years agoDon't listen to the negative review, or else you will end up missing out on some quality 90's Hip-Hop. I don't even own a physical copy, yet I still feel compelled to stand up for what is a truly solid and original "concept" compilation. The production and lyrics might not necessarily be the greatest of the era, but there are several highlight tracks throughout that are strong enough to carry the whole project. Strung together in the style of a live Hip-Hop variety show with emcee hosts transitioning between tracks, the concept is unique at the very least. Listen for yourself to decide, but to me the other two reviews don't do it justice!

Edited 12 years agoI dug this CD out after storing it away for quite a few years, and I've come to the conclusion that I must have been blinkered by the Rawkus name, as both the CD's aren't that great, the first CD has only one really good track "Cipher Complete - Bring Hip Hop Back" then the rest of the tracks on the CD are either OK or Rubbish. Meanwhile the second CD has two decent tracks "Jurassic 5 - Jayou & Talib Kweli - The Manifesto" while on the rest of the tracks on this CD are all awful, with tacks 1,2 & 5 being notably terrible.
Apart from those tracks mentioned above, I would of happily used these CD's as Frisbee's
