Neil Young – Official Release Series Discs 13, 14, 20 & 21

Agreed on there being “too much” room inside the box, which could easily house more than four albums. Luckily mine arrived with no damage.

Crisp sound all around. Only thing that would make these releases more worth it would be a nice large book, in the same vein of Dylan’s Bootleg series. This is the most affordable of all of these sets, but still, you may as well pick these albums up separately for the price this collection typically goes for.

Another great box set from NY, clean, flat and quiet pressings. I bought my box from NYA greedy hand store and received the HD s. I also bought another copy of the box from my local retailer for $39AUD couldn’t that up!!!

I have all of the previous box sets from this series and up until this one, I've had no complaints. This set was not produced with the same care or quality standards as the previous three sets. There are four records in a box that could easily handle 8 or 9. There was no padding or protection inside the box to keep the records from flopping around. This apparently causes damage during shipping as it took me three returns before I got a set where the record jackets didn't have seriously split seams. The quality of the vinyl will be added to this review after I get them cleaned and re-sleeved.

UPDATE 9-18-24: I've now gone through three sets to achieve an undamaged box, unsplit record jackets, and decent (not great) pressings. Many of the pressings were warped heavily, most had high levels of surface noise that in many cases did NOT disrupt playback due to the music being able to conceal it. This set is an overall disappointment that is definitely not up to the standards of the previous box sets. You are likely going to get the same experience as I did-- IOW, it's a crap-shoot.

My Hawks & Doves disc came quite warped. It still plays, although there are a couple stray faint clicks/pops. Everything else was fine. I only paid $35 for the set still sealed, so it is what it is. Unlike the newest vinyl boxset, this one came with polylined inner sleeves.

I'm glad that Eldorado is available as LP since August 19th 2022.
So it is no reason to buy this box ;-)

So… anyone else view this box set as nothing more than a $100 EP? :)
