Very well mastered, got my copy secondhand and don't have any problems with noise besides a couple clicks, which could have been from the previous owner. It's a modern classic.
-
wow so surprised with my copy, see all the bad reviews about punisher and stranger in the alps and was anxious listening to this for the first time but was so impressed by the quality instead!! Maybe I was lucky?? Not sure, but wow this sounds great!!
-
such a great record - such a bad quality. Just got it new (selaed), after an intense cleaning on my Okki Nokki still a LOT of noise, even more as some 70ies records in my collection. This is very sad....
-
I actually didn't have too many issues with this pressing. I gave it a wet-clean before playing, and it sounds pretty great (so do my Punisher and The Record pressings). Mastered very well, no distortion, no IGD. Slight clicks on the first track of side B, but all-in-all a very decent pressing.

Phoebe is a revelation to me, a late comer to her voice and song writing. Boygenius was the spark I think, and she led me, unbeknownst to her, to Noah Gunderson. Or it could have been the youtube recommendation engine.

Edited one year agoI had a copy with constant noise in the right channel through the side A but the last song. Side B was a bit better but still with noise in the right channel. Had to return it. Otherwise sound was clean and good.
UPD. Got a new copy: no constant noise as before but it has occasional pops and crackles, overall quality is OK -
Edited 2 years agoJust received my copy from UK HMV, newly back in stock. OK it has a very minor warp and one or two clicks but the sound is excellent. Had to turn it up but that's no issue as the dynamics are excellent. Wonderful record and the duets and double track vocals on some tracks sound brilliant.
-
Minimal noise on my copy, the sound is smooth and almost creamy. It is a bit quiet for my liking, but I can't complain.

The below reviews are mostly true. Side A for me isn’t too bad especially past track one, but side B is pretty awful. Crackly as can be. It gets better further into the side, but not much. Brushed, rolled, and wet cleaned. Really a shame. Side A is listenable, so that’s a plus? The mastering is really quite good otherwise.

i lucked out with my copy, only a little hissing. dead oceans seems to have bad pressings like this a lot so your copy may not be the best. don't buy it if you don't mind potential noise. :(
