so I have a first uk to compare this to and these are my thoughts.
This 76 press is the way to go not just because of the price. it comes out louder and clearer and has the in the room feel. i will say, the OG sounds fantastic as well and its close but i prefer this one.
The OG wins when comparing the jacket and label. the colors are so much more vibrant on the OG and the label has the nice green apple on it where this press is over exposed and has a yellowish apple. I don’t think stuff like this matters as much really.
also have a 73 french pressed UK copy that apparently has better stampers but it doesn’t come close to this one in any way. -
Edited 4 months agoBelieve the hype. If you're a fan I think you need this and the 2019 remix and no others. This one is far superior to the original UK pressing.
I do get a small bit of noise on the left speaker throughout Something on my mint copy however -
I still don't consider this album the technical marvel others seem to, but it's certainly a drastic improvement over the shoddy 2009/2012 remaster and does sound very nice overall, if a bit polite.

I've got a 749-4 GAR backed with 750-3 HTM . 33 1/3 on left - can't seem to find any reference to the GAR. Any helper ideas or ideas appreciated

I don't have any other pressings to compare this with, but this is a great sounding record. Very well balanced with a huge soundstage.

Edited one year agoThis 3rd English pressing of Abbey Road is in all respects the same as the 5th of "Dark side of the moon" in of "best copy", and both are the work of Harry Moss. From an audiophile point of view this version sounds much more open and modern than the first UK release. Moss's work on finalizing the master and cutting the lacquer can definitely be felt! This version, (4 HTM, 3 HTM) is the first real remaster and you can hear the use of Abbey Road's EMI compressors and equalizers compared to the first version which is more frank, open and dynamic and in which you can hear much more "analog tape" compared to this one. On the contrary, this version is much softer, enveloping and silky. Ultimately, in my opinion, this is the copy to have, both among the various prints by H. Moss, all of which are excellent, and among the latest releases and recent remasters. Definitely one of the best sounding copies

This pressing is fantastic. Even songs I don't care for (mainly Maxwell) are so much enjoyable to listen to. This will be as good as it will get for me since price is a bit of a barrier for me, especially since I'm across the pond in the US. Blows my US issue out of the water.

Edited one year agoI absolutely agree with fmfxray373, this pressing is fantastic, and I can't believe that the original pressing sounds any better, but I'll never know ;-)
Soundstage is fabulous, beats my 80's reissue (and I thought THAT one was good!). I've heard things on this pressing that I haven't heard on that one. Bass is more pronounced, drums go deeper, just tremendous overall.
Very recommended.
Matrix on side 1 of mine is yex 749-2 d p 11 -
Can anyone confirm if the inner sleeve is plain white, or dose it have emi branding, as mine is plain white, is that the emi standard inner?

I have the YEX-749-4/YEX 750-3 HTM pressing which I paid about $60 USD at a local indie shop.
Mine doesn't have any surface noise. If you love this record one can't go wrong with this one.
