Not sure if it is the songs themselves or the sonic attributes of the vinyl or the mastering but the album reminds me of sitting in the barber shop waiting for your turn. The barber has the old AM radio dialed in...and here's ELO. I'm not an ELO expert and just picked this up on a bit of a whim recently. But I'm going to say the songs are very enjoyable, Livin' Thing and Telephone obviously, and that the overall sound is plenty open and inviting but probably more warm than what I would have expected. Which doesn't bother me at all. I was expecting a little more brilliance in the high end. But, well, it's 1976 and that's OK.
