Edited 7 months agoHad a copy with many cracks on it. Seem there were some production issues. There were white splashes on it where the cracks are. I returned it to the seller and after four weeks now I got a fine one. Sounds good, the visual is splendit. One of the best looking pieces in my collection. Glad to got one finally without errors.

I love this album. I had no audio issues straight out of the sleeve. I really enjoyed how the score evoked the same emotions I experienced from the film without having to dedicate three hours of my life. The liner notes explaining the scoring and recording process are very interesting. It's neat to know where the recording took place and imagine visiting there someday with this blaring on headphones. My partner and I have a special relationship with this movie and soundtrack. She explicitly expressed disdain for science fiction. I begged her to watch this movie. She cried... a lot.
The sound of the organ on this pressing is like a fever dream. This is an amazing soundtrack and I did not even know it existed on vinyl until she ran up to me with it in her hands while we were in Japan. It is stupendous. -
Bad Quality Control
I got this pressing and it had a ton of crackles and pops, you name it, it was a plague.
Got a Vinyl Vac and out of all the vinyls I wanted to try it on, this was the first, that's how bad it was and it made a huge difference. There's a lot of debris in the grooves which you don't see. -
Edited one year agoOne of my personal favorites despite a small crackle on it. A must have. I recommend it!

Edited one year agoSadly lots of pops and crackles all over the album for me that ruins the experience. could probably live without this in my collection.

My copy sounds so good. If you could compare the vinyl of this to like Apple Music or something, it would be like comparing a cd to going to see an IMAX movie. The difference is so amazing but beware of the very heavy bass. I had my headphones cranked up and a sub drop came in and I still have a headache a day later lol!
-
Amazing! My copy has a few soft pops on it, but otherwise this is still a great copy to have! Beautiful cover and vinyl color as well.

Edited one year agoBig deception, I got the number 146xx of the 2023 reissue, and the stylus jump up at the end of the 3rd tracks from face A...it's like the groove was not deep enough. I'm not lucky....I bought a first pressing from 2015 last year and got also another issue. I have a collection of more than 1000 records, either aged, or in fairly good conditions to mint....I have never heard this before....

Edited one year agoI used to have the 2015 MOV black version of this & sold it in order to buy this new purple version. Didn’t know this would be such a good decision!
First of all, my black copy had some pops and constant surface noise even after two wet cleaning and several plays. This really ruined the listening experience, even more during the quiet parts of the score. This one on the other hand is literally dead silent! No surface noise AT ALL! A few pops here and there but a wet cleaning will get rid of them. As it already was on the black one, the master is really good on this release with great dynamics and deep bass.
The holographic sleeve with this rainbow effect to it is really nice and matches the cover and the movie perfectly imo, a really nice addition that I personnaly love! As for the color of the records, loved it as well! My white acrylic splatter makes the color even more vibrant.
To conclude : 10/10 release for me. This is by far the best MOV release of this score imo. Really glad I sold my black copy to buy this one that is far superior in every aspect to me. -
Edited 13 days agoSuprisingly betters the black 2015 MOV issue which was already quite superb. The mastering is actually a little different... abit louder while more expansive and clear sounding on this purple press. I also like the purple vinyl that matches the artwork colour and the quality of the package is great but the "lenticular" effect on the cover does nothing for the artwork/printwork and they should never do that again lol. Overall.... yeah its superb stuff from MOV as usual!!
