I have to it that I regret buying this one. Digital version sounds much better. Dynamic range feels compressed, the guitar tends to distort in a very unpleasant way which makes me suspect that there was little to no care paid when preparing master for cut. In addition, there are lots of pops and clicks. Finally, the cover is sloppily made, there are strips of white unprinted paper visible and generally speaking it feels cheap. All of this left me with unsatisfying listening experience.

Edited 4 months agoI feel lucky as my copy does not skip. It's obvious that it makes the antiskating on my turntable work a hell of a lot as I can see the needle move in a weird way! And it's saturating a lot at times. But it is not unlistenable. In fact it's pretty much alive and I hope the saturation will end after some cleaning.

For such an expensive new record you would expect better packaging like at least a plastic inner sleeve.
The lack of care on this release really raises questions on the vinyl quality, probably recycled, and source of the audio. -
Consistent surface noise on my first copy. Will try another to see if I get lucky like some have with this particular pressing.

Bought new and skips. Seems to be a common issue with this pressing. Thankfully my local record store was cool about giving me store credit even though I lost the receipt.

Album is great but even the black pressingis lackluster. Surface noise persists, even after cleaning. If you have a an accurate reference system, this pressing will not do these guys justice.

Edited 10 months agoAgain a Dead Oceans pressing. Seems like a digital copy recorded on vinyl. Not worth buying.the LP in this case as next to this 'flat' mastering, it adds the typical and well known pops and cracks from Dead Oceans factory...I would recommend buying digital: cd or mp3...

Edited 10 months agoI have the black pressing, it sounds horrible. It's sounds like the heavy inner groove distortion when you play a record on a Crosley Cruiser but on this it's on whole the record and it doesn't matter of you actually have a crosley or of you play it with a microline stylus . Guitar breaks up constantly, it's not enjoyable.
