I listened to Paul´s Boutique about a thousand times in 1990. Car Thief (track 11) blew my mind, I still get chills when I hear the first bars... Groundbreaking. My favorite Beastie Boys album.

I have this with different sleeve images on the booklet and the back tray card (no barcode. Blurry store with sunlight. Any ideas which this one exactly is?

When I bought this LP in the summer of '89, I was devastated. I thought the LP was pure garbage. I wanted the old Beasties back... The Beastie with the hard-hitting 808 kicks and drunken lyrics! I put the LP on the shelf for 3 years. When I listened to it again in the summer of '92, I was amazed. I couldn't believe how good the LP was. The production was insane and complex. I was flummoxed as to how I sleep on such a masterpiece for 3 years. They were too advanced for the average Hip-Hop listener. To this day, it's my personal favorite from the Beasties! Nuff said!

Part of the success of this amazing album is due Dust Brothers whose production is a hip-hop landmark. Songs built out of thousands of unexpected samples from every source: reggae, disco, funk. rock. After 14 years it still sounds fresh, funky, trippy !

Simply one of the greatest releases of hip hop in the last 20 years. The amount of production in Paul's Boutique is unremarkable, largely due to The Dust Brothers unmatchable production values.
