According to my rip of the disc, the '24/96 2012 Mix' is only 48khz. Is anyone else able to confirm?
-
Why oh why are there 2 versions of the awfully nasal 2012 remaster at different sample rates, please?
Surely we could have had a flat transfer of the original master instead? -
For £15 its a good value in of the content offerings on the disc.
The packaging is beyond crap. Its like the maker doesnt even like this record. The thinnest most threadbare piece of card, so thin the disc itself is as thick and as such its got ringwear on arrival.
Content is 10/10. Packing is 1/10. -
Just in-case you accidentally get sucked in by the "Original 1972 Stereo Mix" denotation here - it's no way the same from the album I have from that era - a check of Starman's "morse code hook" guitar level fails the test
Surround mix sounds a lot better than the DVD 5.1 from a few years back though - shame yet again the omission of the extra tracks from the 1990 CD release -
I have the Abbey Road 1/2 speed master on vinyl that was released a few years back. The stereo mix on this beats that one hands down. The clarity on this release is truly amazing. The bass is also more well rounded and apparent. I don’t have an atmos setup so I can’t comment on that, but the stereo mix is amazing.

Wow, is it different, almost disregarding the sound of the original record, with it's thin sound and lackluster low end. That is not a thing in this new mix. The bass is there at perfect levels, drums are really emphasised throughout as they are now evidently buried in the original's mix. The Atmos mix's majority of placements are in the front with sound effects (delay and reverb) and strings and additional bits in the rears, whilst I wouldn't say it's immersive at all times with it at occasions feeling like a wide stereo mix, the album really does just fill the room at points. As for the 192/24 of the original mix, I'm really glad it's here. This is a really fresh and modern sounding mix. Thoroughly Enjoyed this mix, as different as it is.
