I was worried to buy a Smile record after getting WOE, which is quite of a mess... Luckily, this one seems to be a good pressing. Except Foreign Spies, all the other tracks are decent but some stand out : DGMS, Eyes & Mouth, Colours Fly and Zero Sum. Took one star off because there is a permanent noise on Side B which sometimes is heard through some quiet parts but it's ok.

I initially bought the US pressing and it was noisy even after 2 wet washes, and looked mishandled, stuffed up. I opted to return it and purchase this EU Optimal pressing. Woah way better. Looks as good as a Pallas pressing and sounds fab. Highly recommend to get this EU press.

Man hat den Eindruck, dass die schwarze Ausgabe die limitierte Edition ist und nicht andersrum.
Und sowieso sind die limitierten Produktionszahlen selten transparent offengelegt. Was zählt ist der Klang, was klingt sauberer? Normalerweise würde man davon ausgehen müssen, das die geringer gefertigte Stückzahl besser klingt, dann müsste man sich ja die schwarze Version zulegen. Ist ja alles sehr komplex aber was meint ihr?. -
Yep. This is the copy to get. Had a US black and sent it back. This is much more like it. Sounds great.

Edited 7 months agoNice, clean sound, great tunes, a real pleasure to listen to. My only gripe is the matted cover making it difficult to slide in and out of a regular outer record sleeve. Ended up having to get one of those gatefold outer sleeves just for it.

I’d skip the first two or three tracks, but then this album has wonderful songs, getting even better ar the end of side B.

Edited 7 months agoMy EU black vinyl copy is great. No surface noise, no clicks or pops. Great sound, very clean, great pressing.
