Compared to the new vinyl, these particular tapes sound horrible. The hiss is way too present and the volume level is quite low. Makes me wonder if the chrome cassette version sounds much better? Anyone want to buy mine? :)

Damn, I had no idea that there was a reissue of this!
They are sold out on Bleep...
Anyone know if they will be restocked? I don't see anything that says that this was a limited time release. -
Edited 5 months agoGot a chance to listen to this one and it is quite impressive. This has a warm and dynamic sound. Can’t imagine the chrome version being that much better, especially for the resell prices. Would highly recommend getting this one direct from Warp/Bleep. Avoid paying the ridiculous resell prices for the chrome version unless you’re dying for the double cassette case.

Edited 5 months agoMakes for a better listening experience than the 2017 vinyl pressing I used to have. There is perhaps an above average amount of hiss, but that's far less intrusive than a bunch of clicks and pops! The music itself, however, sounds gorgeous -- very deep, cavernous, expansive, exactly how this album should sound!!!
And by the way, don't pay scalper prices. These are still available on the Aphex Twin website!! -
Edited 5 months agoThis sounds phenomenal. The vinyl copy I received has non fill and noise. I'll probably use this as my go to copy.

I think this album will sound good no matter what format it's on. Obviously cassettes are not the highest fidelity format to listen to music on but I think these ones are quite nice, and the general hiss during playback is meditative and goes well with the general composition of SAWII. If you have a cassette player and you like this album, I would suggest picking up a copy if you can. It's really charming.
