I experienced a version of this concert in 1979 when Elton John and Ray Cooper played the O'Keefe Centre (now Meridian Hall) in Toronto. Having enjoyed dozens of shows over the years from a myriad of artists, Elton's 1979 solo concert ranks as my all-time favourite. And this record captures that performance perfectly. This is an excellent pressing -- clear dynamics with no surface noise. The song list is superb! It includes the rarely performed Ticking as well as other tracks that span his career right up to the Blue Moves album. This is a fantastic addition to Elton's vinyl discography and highly recommended.

Recommended! Good addition if you like Elton live (and I do). His fabulous piano playing is excellently recorded. Noiseless pressing. Only, why are such recordings so expensive? Someone is laughing his way to the bank!

Edited one month agoSome may skip this as the singles/hits are left off but the various album tracks shine and make this essential! RSD website says the 6 night of shows featured the first live debuts of tracks; “Roy Rogers”, “Cage The Songbird”, “Idol” and “I Feel Like A Bullet (In The Gun Of Robert Ford)”.

Edited one month agoNice release. Wish they had done the entire show but hey, glad for what was released. Flat and fairly quiet pressing on my copy. There was a bad looking mark on A1 but it only resulted in one very light and brief bit of noise.
Generally very good sound for live 1977 (BBC usually did a nice job). The piano sounds quite good; very up front and good tone and detail. Vocals are a tad more distant but still crisp and clean. An the bootlegs for sure. Incredible performance of Ticking. And Ray's percussion on Better off Dead is cool. The snare he plays circles around your head when listening over headphones.
