It'd be easy to slag this off as some mutant love child of the West Coast's choicest beat master and the metal-faced cult rapper. I'm sure people have but just because the tracks are short and have nonsensical rhythms don't make it a bad CD. Don't slate the ‘Accordion’ beats as there's less immediate tracks than that one, e.g. ‘Raid’ and ‘Rainbows’. So whilst it is generally one paced with hackneyed talk Radio interjections, ‘Bistro’, ‘America’s Most Blunted’ and 'Strange Ways' stand out and 'Meat Grinder' is one of the most hypnotic left-field hip-hop tracks of the year. And no doubt on the strength of that track alone it reached No. 7 in the Gilles Peterson 2004 Worldwide All Winners Albums of the Year.
