What a press. Quiet, flat, loud. Thats killer sound actually. Analog tones, deep mids, stage and instruments separation, bright and powerful with good attack. Fresh nordic air of beautiful fjords with satan swimming in the bloody river. Nice fairy tales!

The copy I just unpacked was full of surface noise and clicks right from the intro, a sign that the vinyl is dirty and full of impurities. With a good cleaning and a thorough listen, it sounds great for a reissue.

Edited one year agoThis is an excellent repress of the classic Darkthrone debut. The artwork and insert are just as you hope with high quality printing. The sound is just as good as the original press: you can hear the bass clearly and the drum is powerful throughout the record. Too much ado nowadays about compressed sound and this and that. Even some dare to complain about "surface noise", which leads you to question whether they actually ever listened to a vinyl before this new wave of vinyl mania broke out... This pressing really rules.

Never understood negative comments, this is a great sounding reissue. It has everything you demand from a Death Metal record, great bottom end, punchy and deep, great separation, good dynamic, very powerful and clean sound. Nothing is flat here or muffled. Of course I wonder how the first press sounds... But being totally honest I have several first presses of 80's and 90's Thrash and Death albums and this one sounds way better than many of them.

No good Job Peaceville. Pure shite pressing. The Audio sucks on this. Completely flat sounding. The original Press and 1st Press cd sounds waaayyy better!!! Early 2000 remasters from all Peaceville stuff is complete trash.

Edited 4 years agoThis album does not sound like it was mastered from an mp3 as a previous reviewer suggests, it is a great sounding pressing, digitally sourced or not.

Edited 8 years agoAlbum is a masterpiece, from the old school Scandinavian tradition of death metal(Entombed, Dismember etc.) Unfortunately this release uses the 2004 CD remaster, if anything sounds like it was mastered from an mp3! Very disappointed. This has been the case with most of Peacevilles Vinyl releases especially the Candlemass records, will be avoiding them for the time being.
