Edited 19 years agoThere would be no mistaking this music in a blind hearing for anyone but Mylene. Plaintive, bittersweet harmonies abound. Still, its fresh with newly insistent rythmns and English obscenities used to excellent effect in chorus. Favorites include Aime, Et Pourtant, Q.I., Fuck them All and PornoGraphique.
Why has it escaped nearly all French pop singers that French sounds great when sung in iambs? Or that English words and phrases, in a world suffused in Anglo-American culture, do not imply crossover desperation?
After all these years, Mylene and Laurent have to be ired for finding a fresh, new vein for the infectious, energetic pop that have made them so popular.
