All in all a terrible release in my opinion.
Don't get me wrong, I love Ramesh and I find her music amazing.
Pharaway Sounds did Ramesh very dirty with this release though, while some of the songs in the tracklist are solid choices and sound decent enough, except some including Ghoroobaa Ghashangan are completely in the wrong pitch and Goftehgoye Sabz being a POST-revolutionary song.
But the music isn't my biggest issue with this release, it's the promo/liner notes, in what universe is writing "they say Ramesh was killed in the political turmoil of the late 70s because she was a lesbian. Nobody knows for sure."
Evidently there was absolutely no fact-checking when writing any of this since you can simply, with one google search find footage from the 80s of Ramesh performing in the U.S. and since as of writing this now Ramesh unfortunately ed away just last year.
Personally I have no clue as of why anyone would write such a thing, perhaps to make it all sound way more mystical than it really is, which probably also means that the artist herself wasn't given any royalties through this release.
Then again this release is here "for your shameless dancing pleasure. Welcome to the unpredictable world of pre-revolutionary Iranian pop music." because who would've thought Iran was considered a modern country once upon a time right?? Crazyyyy!
