Im Bezug auf den kurz nach den Aufnahmen folgenden Suizid des Sängers muss die Textzeile „I swear to you I don´t have a gun“ im folgenden Song „Come as you are“ bei jedem Nirvana-Fan eine Gänsehaut erzeugen. I never lost control“ eher zynisch. Absolut stark!

Back in school I had a friend who was a fan of Nirvana, and he gave me all their albums to listen to. I never became that excited about them myself, but I liked most of "Bleach" of "Incesticide", plus the faster songs on "Nevermind" and "In Utero". To me, they were a solid rock band, not better or worse than a lot of other bands. Their lyrics provided a mixture of teenage angst and profanity and they were so vague and inconsistent that it was easy to interpret them in any way I wanted.
I never understood the hype about this "Unplugged" album though. I suppose it's different if you already are a fan, but to me it was always just plain boring. As I said above, I always thought of Nirvana as a rock band, and when you take out the amplifiers and slow down the speed, there's not much left. Kurt Cobain is average as a singer, and when he sings his songs instead of screaming them, it only shows how pointless most of his lyrics are. Listening to this today, it just makes me happy to know that the whole grunge hype is long over.
