A bit new to my old and extensive Fall collection, it's a great album that seems to have grown on me with repeated listens.Quite fun discovering surprising new features of interest eg. lyrical/ musical. Definite recommendation from me.

I got the reissue: 3 weeks later I bid on a first press on E-Bay and won it for an absurdly low price. The reissue was okay, but the f/p really sparkles. So glad I could hook one cheaply!

honestly stunned with how this sounds on vinyl. the delicacy of of the rhythms within the main rhythms are mesmerizing. it's raw but yet polished? live sets from this period are a must to acquire as well. there is also a 45 of free range b/w everything hurtz with a slightly different more raw and powerful mix. also highly recommended.

Code: Selfish begins with industrial boogie "The Birmingham School of Business School" and turns periodically from repetitively hypnotic to hypnotically shamanic. "Two-Face!" is a jolly rocker, "Just Waiting" has a beautiful guitar solo which is unique for The Fall, "So Called Dangerous" closer to the end suddenly turns into outright disco, "Gentlemen's Agreement" unexpectedly turns out to be musically a kind of elegy: "Your brain is software. It's filled with excrement", - that's elegiac enough for The Fall. "Married, 2 Kids" is an avant-garde rockabilly and "Crew Filth" starts like some electronic dance but almost at once becomes something resembling freakish Moslem prayer. All said, Code: Selfish is one of the best achievements by this inexhaustible, most innovative band called The Fall and their chieftain Mark E. Smith.
